Our Purpose
The Lion Den Scholarship's purpose is to help Hawaii’s students who cannot afford the cost of tuition, attend the private school of their choice. There are numerous students throughout the state that have untapped potential and are limited by their financial situation. Though anyone can be successful regardless of where they received their education, no one can doubt the benefits that a private education provides to students. These benefits aren’t limited to advanced curriculum, but also include college/job fair counselling, higher funding for extracurricular activities, advanced/updated facilities, technology resources, and more.
Lion Den Scholarship's History
The Lion Den Scholarship organization (LDS for short) was founded in 2023 around the beginning of the school year. Since its creation, the founders of the Lion Den Scholarship has worked to build up the organization from scratch in order to have the capabilities and resources to begin distributing scholarships to students for the next school year.
It must be noted that LDS will only be awarding scholarships to a few students in grades 8-12 for the 2024-2025 school year due to our current size and capabilities. Though our capabilities and resources may be limited now, LDS's goal is to one day distribute scholarships to students in grades k-12. We may not be able to reach this goal now, but the Lion Den Scholarship organization remains incredibly thankful for the resources and capabilities it currently has, as it has allowed us to begin acting on our purpose.
Acting On Our Purpose
To fulfill our purpose, LDS uses the funds that we collect and raise throughout the year to distribute the Lion’s Den Scholarship to selected students. The Lion’s Den Scholarship is a financial scholarship that goes towards paying for a student’s tuition for the year. The scholarship is paid directly to the students’ school on their behalf.
